Self-worth is the sense of one’s own value or worth as a person. It is about who you are, not about what you do. You should be less worried about measuring yourself on external actions.
Stop measuring yourself against others and challenge your inner voice. Your inner voice can be very self-destructive. Above all, practice self-compassion. We are all imperfect.
3 Different ways to build up positive self-worth and add meaning to your life:
- Helping others and volunteering – (this has been shown to have a positive effect on how you feel)
- Having Religious beliefs have been shown to boost self-worth.
- Maintaining personal integrity – You stand for something. If your actions don’t match your words you lose to your inner critical voice. “If you don’t stand for something, you don’t stand for anything”.
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
